Shi Yang Shan Fang, a well-known restaurant in Taiwan, is a must-visit for tea lovers.
Many people have told us that it's difficult to make a reservation at this restaurant, but due to the pandemic, we were able to make a reservation for tea and lunch a week ago by phone. Woo!
On a rainy day, the staff invited us to the tea room on the upper floor. After the large windows were opened, a beautiful forest came into view.
The interior decoration is simple and Zen-like, which is why the founder has become famous. Drinking tea inside gives a sense of peace and tranquility.
As for the tea, we tried two high-quality teas: Yunnan ancient tree wild tea and Oriental Beauty. While we were enjoying our tea, we chatted with the tea staff, who told us that they were trained by the owner personally. That's really nice!
The Oriental Beauty was fragrant and rich, but the tea felt a bit heavy and plump. I now wonder if the tea's presentation would be more elegant if brewed at a lower temperature. However, I'm not very familiar with this tea yet, so perhaps this is just its style.
After the tea, we had lunch. The table setting was simple and elegant.
The lunch dishes were exquisite and innovative, and there was no menu. However, some of the dishes were soups and liquid-based, and we were also served three types of tea. If we hadn't had tea in the morning, we might have felt fine, but we had a lot of liquid in our stomachs.
However, listening to the rain and drinking tea, eating surrounded by trees, and experiencing the exquisite taste buds of the forest, we still felt happy.
