My big tummy teacher always says, “Tea brewing has to be incorporated into your daily life.” Hence his studio is located inside his apartment.

He brews tea every day. For him, tea brewing is as natural as brushing teeth, washing face or having meals.

This reminds me of this saying: “Life is Art. Art is life”. Art not only can be found in museums or art galleries. Tea brewing is the same. This is part of our life. Not something very serious or very far away from you.

According to the 10,000 hour rule, it takes 10,000 hours of intensive practice to be an expert in a specific area. If tea brewing (or any other skills) can be incorporated into our daily life, the 10,000 hours can be accumulated naturally through time.

Just like what Haruki Murakami does. He goes running and writing every day, which becomes his routine. Is it like incorporating these into his daily life? Also if it becomes your habit, these practices will happen naturally and not a hardship.

Tea brewing needs space. Hong Kong is particularly famous for the “scarcity of land” issue.  However, Hong Kong people really need space to breathe under the great pressure and the deteriorating situation.

If you have a windowsill, or a little corner somewhere, please try to set up a space (even an A3-sized one) for yourself. Not limited to tea brewing, you could also draw, write or plant. Get a little space to chill, to be recharged and face the challenges again.
